Carismaticul si tanarul dj pe care vi l-am prezentat acum ceva timp, tyDi, ne-a facut placerea de a ne raspunde la cateva intrebari, in urma carora veti afla noi informatii despre dj-ul australian cat si ce surprize ne asteapta la concertul pe care il va sustine in Romania, in septembrie.

Tyson ‘tyDi’ Illingworth pe numele lui intreg, este originar din Australia si se ocupa cu muzica de la frageda varsta de 13 ani, cand a invatat sa cante la tobe, peste cativa ani s-a specializat pe muzica de club iar la 20 a primit premiul pentru cel mai bun dj din Australia conform Sony inthemix Top 50 DJ Poll, detinand aceasta distinctie in ultimii doi ani.

A participat la evenimente importante precum Trance Energy sau Sensation White iar in topul Dj Mag a intrat direct pe pozitia 52 in 2009 iar anul acesta e posibil sa ajunga chiar si mai sus in acest clasament.

1.Hi TyDi, you are only 22, but even so you have been awarded with the Best Australian Dj (Sony inthemix Top 50 Dj Poll) for the second time in a row and you are a regular presence at important events like Trance Energy. So tell us more about how you’ve started producing music and what impact had to your life the success you are having right now?

I fell in love with electronic music when I was about 13, I knew it was going to be my life. I began writing music every day and studied it in high school. When I was 16 I was already DJing around Australia in different cities so I was able to get a good understanding of the music nice and early in my career. When I finished high school I decided to do a university degree in music and spent 4 years studying for a ‘Bachelor of Music Technology’ at the Conservatorium of music. I’ve been very lucky to see my music go global over the past few years and I my life could not be better!

2. Almost every important dj has a radio show, so tell us more about yours, Global Soundsystem?

Global Soundsystem is my weekly 2-hour radio show that I started nearly a year ago. At the moment it’s broadcasted in 20 different countries around the world and it’s also available as a free podcast from iTunes. Global Soundsystem is a way for me to give something to my fans each week no matter where they are on planet Earth. Episode 50 of GSS is going to be very special… It’s going to be an episode that is mixed by 5 superstar DJ’s, can you guess who they are??

3.You’ve just released “Calling” on ASOT and you made a video for ‘World’s Apart‘. Which one of them will you promote as your next single and what can you tell us about this new video?

Calling is my next single, it’s not released yet but it will be coming out very soon on the Armada record label. I’m very excited about the track! ‘World’s Apart’ is all top secret at the moment, it’s a song from my upcoming album and yes we have just made an amazing video clip for it.. you’ll just have to wait for that one

4. “Calling” and ‘Worlds Apart’ are not on “Look Closer”, so are you going to release a new album soon? If so, can you tell us more about it?

Yep these tracks are all for my new album, I’m still working on it and it’s sounding incredible! I’m so happy about the progress of the new album – get ready for something very special! The new album goes a lot deeper into my ideas and concepts for production. It’s got way more live elements and has some very dark ‘movie soundtrack’ type pieces mixed in. For me this new album is going to portray a brand new chapter of my life, it has lot’s of character and color to it. So far the album is made up of around 15 tracks but it’s still  prototype at the moment

5. You have collaborated with some artists until now, but with which artist would you like to work in the future?

I’ve always wanted to work with BT – in my opinion he is the best electronic producer in the world, his work is a step above everyone else.

6. I saw on twitter that you did a remix for a BT song, which one is it and when will it be released?

Yep! I did a remix for BT’s song called ‘The Light Of Things’, it has some brilliant vocals from JES. I think this is my best remix yet and BT was very happy with my work so I’m sure you’ll love it. It’s coming out soon on the Black Hole record label.

7. How is it for an Australian dj to have such great success in Europe, the capital of trance, if I can say that?

It’s amazing, I am honestly living my dream.

8. Let’s talk now about something else besides music, tell us more about you, do you get any free time? How do you choose to spend it? Do you have any hobbies or do you have a favourite place to go on holiday?

I don’t get a lot of free time, but every day I swim for about 3 kilometers before I start working on music or traveling somewhere. I love swimming, it helps clear my mind. If I ever get a few days off I will usually spend them at the beach, I grew up in a little beachy town so I really feel at home near the water.

9. You will be in Romania, at Trance Vibrations in September so what have you prepared for us, any special surprises?

I hope you are ready because this show is going to be MASSIVE! I am really looking forward to coming to Romania for the first time, I have a lot of fans from your country and I am so happy with I will finally get to perform for you. I’ll be playing all of my brand new remixes and productions, I’ll also be testing out some tracks from my new album so you’ll get to hear lot’s of cutting edge music. Bring it on!!!

10. And at the end, some words for all your Romanian fans (who are waiting for you here) and all DivercityCafe readers?

To all my Romanian fans, thank you so much for the constant support over the past few years – I am so excited to finally travel to your country and perform live, this is truly going to be a night to remember!
